Sun City West is an unincorporated age restricted community just outside of Phoenix Arizona. Sun City West residents began moving into their new homes in October 1978.  Sun City West residents must have at least one member of each household that is 55 years of age and no permanent resident can be under 19 years of age.  However, there is not age restriction on ownership.

There are approximately 44,000 residents in Sun City West and Sun city West is home to approximately 50,000 people.  Some of these residents are “snowbirds” and use Sun City West as a second home or vacation getaway from winter weather in their home states.

Sun City West has nine golf courses, four recreation centers, three indoor and three outdoor swimming pools plus bowling, billiards, tennis, handball and racquetball.

Of the nine golf courses, Pebblebrook, Grandview, Deer Valley and Trail Ridge are championship golf courses.  Stardust, Echo Mesa, Desert Mesa and Desert Trails are executive length courses.

Hillcrest Golf Club is owned by John Jacobs School of Golf and is open to all residents and the public.  The Briarwood Golf Course and Country Club is Sun city West’s only country club.  Briarwood Country Club provides an elegant expression of taste and quality and offers Sun City West residents golf, swimming and tennis.
